David Bocking

David founded InnoTraction Solutions Inc. to provide consulting services to innovative healthcare enterprises. Recent engagements with large integrated health care providers included Home TeleHealth projects focused on CHF, COPD and diabetes and Telecare projects focused on independent living. In 2008, InnoTraction completed a technology scan for the application of home telehealth technology for patients with Mental Illness. In 2009, David concluded a global study on Personal Health Records and the implications for implementation in Canada and supported the development of home telehealth pilot program in New Zealand. In 2007, David completed an engagement with a New Zealand software company, to enter the US community care and consumer markets. From 2005 to 2007, David managed multi-million dollar strategic alliance with responsibility for C-Level alliance governance and the innovation agenda. In 2004, David completed a North American business plan for an international consortium of partners in the wireless healthcare sector.

David has over 23 years of experience in the telecom and IT sectors with a blend of early stage and large enterprise experience that he leverages to apply new concepts and emerging technologies into business solutions with an emphasis on healthcare and wireless technology. Always an innovator, he brings a combination of strong conceptual and strategic thinking skills together with tactical skills in communication, marketing, business development, and technology strategy and project management.

Bernie Borkenhagen

A senior-level Management Consultant, Project Manager and Business Analyst with a solid track record of accomplishments in helping clients select, design and implement Technology solutions. Over 30 years of business, project management and ICT-related consulting experience in a variety of industry sectors including: Health Care, Oil & Gas/Pipelines, Utilities, Government, Transportation, and Telecommunications.

Bernie has undertaken more than 40 client project engagements working for an international IT consulting firm (Fujitsu/DMR Consulting), privately and with InnoTraction. Client engagements covered a wide spectrum of consulting services and typically included all or some components of the project lifecycle from business case development to implementation project management.

Experience in the Healthcare sector includes Home Telehealth (wireless remote monitoring medical devices for Chronic Disease Management); Healthcare related RFP development and management initiatives; Telemental health research; Personal Health Record (PHR) research; and the development of a Technology Roadmap for Continuing Care Technology (Telecare) to support “aging in the home” and communities for the elderly.

Bernie is familiar and experienced with PMI Project Management processes, tools and techniques, and benefits realization/business outcomes methodology to deliver a total solution approach. Passionate on “bridging the gap” between IT and the business-side, with a focus on delivering tangible business results through proper project lifecycle management, organizational change management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, teamwork and leadership.

Ginny Holtby

The hallmarks of Ginny’s career are innovation, tenacity, enthusiasm and a track record of achieving results. Through teamwork, intense customer focus, and constantly measuring progress, she has met challenging goals. Business planning skills have been a core competency throughout Ginny’s career at TELUS, Intuit Canada and as a consultant. She has led planning processes in both staff and line roles and is known for the effective translation of strategy into both action and financial plans. She launched the first Call Display telephone to market in North America. She championed a federal policy change to give consumers more choice in cable telephone packages and, as a business unit manager at Intuit, she fostered cultural change, while growing revenues and improving profitability.

As a consultant at InnoTraction, Ginny managed a product development project with an international consortium of technology, academic and health care providers.

Ginny holds an M.B.A. from the University of Alberta and a B.A. from McGill University Since leaving Intuit in 2002, she has worked as a business development consultant helping small and larger businesses grow. Ginny also teaches 400-level courses in Marketing and Business Economics in the School of Business at the University of Alberta and has facilitated Exploratorium sessions at the Banff Centre Leadership Development. Her motto is “Vitae Discae”- learn for life, and she strives to expand her horizons through work and outside interests such as ski instructing, rock climbing, yoga, and writing.

Steve Knudsen

Steven Knudsen, Ph.D., P.Eng., has more than 25 years of experience in many facets of Canada’s high-tech industry and education system. As an educator, he has developed and presented university courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering, technical training courses for corporations, and acts as a mentor to young engineers. Steven has led technical R&D teams as a project engineer, architect, Chief Engineer, and CTO in start-ups and established companies.

Steven’s bioengineering experience began during his M.Sc. in Applied Sciences in Medicine (U of Alberta, ’87) developing novel MRI techniques and image processing and data transmission applications. Over time his experience has broadened to include remote satellite data processing, advanced single- and multi-dimensional signal processing, embedded hardware and software design and implementation, wired and wireless communication system design, pervasive computing applications, application of AI techniques, and context-aware (semantic) computing, all of which are applicable to the challenges of modern medical information systems.

Steven has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (’92) from the University of Calgary.

Maureen McNaul

Maureen McNaul, BN, MBA, has a solid history of project management and internal consulting work in public and private sector organizations. Dynamic, results-oriented professional with a varied background including emergency nursing, biotechnology research management, commercial lending, health care management and planning. Having a thorough understanding of the health system and the ability to quickly understand the diverse needs of patient populations and their caregivers enables Maureen to focus on solutions that mitigate clinical risk while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Leveraging her collaborative, inclusive and engaging communication style, coupled with direct experience in acute, ambulatory and community care, Maureen is highly motivated to work on advances in delivery of care at the systems level to improve outcomes for stakeholders including funders, health professionals and clients.

Maureen completed her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Calgary in 1989. She went on to achieve her MBA, also from University of Calgary in 1996. Having joined Innotraction in Spring 2010, Maureen is eager to use her skills to build bridges between clinical needs and technological solutions.
